Herbal Sitz Bath

Sitz baths are a great herbal tool! From diaper rash to postpartum, infections, hemorrhoids, fissures, and more. If you’ve got a little pain or funk in the trunk try it! Just follow the steps below!

  • Bring water just to a boil and pour it over the herbs in a heat-safe glass jar or pitcher. Cover and allow the herbs to steep for about 5 minutes, letting the plant medicine infuse into the water.

  • While the tea is steeping, prepare a basin with enough warm water for the child to sit comfortably. Strain the herbs and pour the tea into the basin, using about 1 liter of tea for every 5 liters of bath water. The final temperature of the bath should feel gently warm, around 98–99°F (37°C).

  • Have the child sit in the bath for about 8 minutes. Keep their upper body clothed and their feet warm with socks so the body stays cozy while the herbs do their work.

  • After the bath, gently dry them off and dress them in warm clothing.

  • This bath can be offered once daily until the rash settles.
